Eating Healthy
Hi!
My name is Shubhpreet Bal and I am a freshman intending to major in molecular and cell biology. This is my first semester in BPSHI and I am currently in the Internal community outreach. I wanted to talk a bit more about what consists of a healthy diet, more so, what a healthy plate of food looks like. What does a healthy plate look like? Well, you will need whole grains, protein, healthy oils, fruits, and vegetables.
Whole grains should make up 1/4 of your plate. Whole grains can be as simple as rice, brown or white.
Protein should make up 1/4 of your plate. You want to aim for healthy meats and avoid red meats. You can consider eating fish, beans, or nuts to fill the protein section.
Fruits and vegeables should make up 1/2 of your plate. You want to aim for color and variety and remember, fruits and vegetables are the most important part of any meal, always include them.
Lastly, do not forget to drink water every day. It is best to stay hydrated throughout the day and drink 8 cups of water each and every day.
